Come celebrate our nation’s birth in Downtown Canandaigua! Our annual 4th of July Parade brings the community together to celebrate independence with service members, floats, local organizations, live music, special guests, and more in a parade from the top of Main Street at City Hall through the business district.
Departing from Canandaigua, these vintage train excursions will offer a one-of-a-kind way to explore the Finger Lakes region in style this summer.
Complete with restored 1940s-era passenger cars from the Golden Era of railroading, these trains will offer memorable views and unforgettable experiences for passengers of all ages. Visit https://www.flxrailexperience.com for more information.
For 36 years, visitors have been attracted to Historic Downtown Canandaigua for the annual art festival that takes place on the historic sidewalks of Downtown Main Street. This free family-friendly event showcases more than 150 juried artists in many different mediums. Over the years, the festival has grown, adding demonstrations, The Golden Palette Trail, and hot local music acts.
Each year, our festival brings new artists in almost every category, including ceramics, pottery, jewelry, woodworking, fiber, glass, photography, and gourmet foods.
Musical acts will play on the Maxion Stage in the Commons Park all three days of the festival. Performances range from Bluegrass, Blues, Rock & Roll to Jazz, and singer-songwriter Acoustics that feature incredible talent from the Upstate New York region.
Illuminate Canandaigua Light Parade with Santa’s arrival at Commons Park and the Tree-lighting Ceremony all beginning at 6:00 PM.
Kick off the holiday season with a dazzling display of holiday lights as Downtown Canandaigua Illuminates the night. Enjoy a spectacular procession of illuminated floats, fire trucks, antique cars, and local organizations. The parade begins at City Hall bringing Santa, his elves, and loads of holiday cheer. The traditional Tree Lighting Ceremony will immediately follow the parade at the Commons Park. Enjoy caroling, food, and fun as we Light Up Canandaigua!

The Central on Main is an outdoor community gathering place where once seated, you may order take-out food from many of our fabulous restaurants within Historic Downtown Canandaigua and have your food delivered right to your table. Downtown Canandaigua’s outdoor dining venue is open from May-October. Order a drink at the Beer & Wine Garden and enjoy live music.
Finger Lakes Authors and Readers Experience (FLARE), presents to you, Words in Bloom. Stop by the Plein Air Bookstore at Central on Main, a showcase of books set in the Finger Lakes or written by authors from the region. Stroll around to meet the authors, browse available books to purchase from multiple genres, and get autographs. Have fun with the Author Garden Scavenger Hunt and enter to win prizes. Bring the kids for storytime with a special meet and greet. Also planned are free sessions of poetry reading and a poetry writing workshop as well as an information session on writing and publishing.
Discover a wide variety of the season's best, including quality fruits and vegetables, meats and eggs, and beautiful vibrant flowers. You'll also find a delicious assortment of locally produced gourmet foods such as sauces, specialty mustards, jams, pickles, maple products, honey, and baked goods. The Canandaigua Farmers Market runs every Saturday from June thru October from 9 am to 12 pm and is located under the Mills Street Pavilion in Downtown Canandaigua.
Stroll through Historic Downtown Canandaigua and dine at all of the incredible international restaurants. Enjoy classic and vintage cars manufactured prior to 1999 cruise down Main Street and line up on display.
Live cultural performances and music will be held on Maxion Stage at the Commons Park including Irish Dancers, African Drumming, Chinese painting, and so much more.

On Saturday and Sunday, February 22nd and 23rd, Downtown Canandaigua will host its 9th Annual Fire & Ice Winter Festival. This year’s lineup will be unforgettable with impressive professional ice carving and speed carving competitions, fire shows, snow sculpting, a dog sled team, close encounters with unique winter animals, fire-building competitions, the Annual Chefs’ Challenge and Comfort in a Cup beverage trail, and so much more… this event will melt away any winter blues.
